Dance is freedom.... joy, love and happiness.
The dance itself can be freeform or can have a predefined choreography that may or may not align with traditions of origin or historical period. The dance can be performed to serve various functions (social, competitive, ceremonial, martial, erotic…) but it also has two distinct forms:
Theatrical dance in which dancers perform for an audience, is known for having more elaborate choreography, planning, costume, scenery and other elements that make the entire production feel more professional.
Participatory social dance where dancing in a group is encouraged to anyone and can be focused to just connect people together dancing for joy, freedom and happiness or to express emotions or liberate yourself from all limitations in your mind.
You can dance externally or internally, dancing for others or dancing for healing your whole being and it doesn’t matter what it looks like... To dance using choreography, learning dance steps, being part of the group and creating art... can also bring you joy and happiness, but you dance using the mind. Holistic dance on the other hand is to open up your heart and let divine energy flow through you… dancing is freedom, love and happiness. Once you heal internally, the external World changes.
Origins and Early History
The dance has always been with us, even before the arrival of written language and modern history, when our earliest cultures evolved utilizing oral and performance methods to pass the stories from one generation to the next. The sound is made by shoes that have a metal "tap" on the heel and toe.

In Ballet, there are basic elements, positions and postures that must be followed. We dance the elements a la barre - at the bar and at liberty - au milieu. Ballet is essential for most dance techniques and there should be no dancer who does not at least go through its basics.
